stay "just one more day" -- Biscayne National Park, located off the southeastern coast of Florida, set aside in 1968, protects islands, water, coral reefs, plants, animals, and marine life.
Biscayne National Park is a unique place on the southeast edge of the North American continent - - 284 square miles of islands, water, and coral reefs. People come to see the plant and animal life that abounds in this subtropical climate. Birds are common, gliding and soaring in the blue sky. There are mangrove trees reaching into the sea and tropical hardwoods on higher grounds. But it is the sea with its spectacular marine life that dominates this watery paradise.
Biscayne - The Story Behind the Scenery by L. Wayne Landrum - First Printed 1990 Wayne Landrum, chief ranger at Biscayne National Park, has worked in parks from coast to coast since starting his National Park Service career at Carlsbad Caverns National Park. A native of New Mexico, he holds a degree in biology from Southern Utah State University. Wayne's many years of living in these unique preserves has deepened his appreciation of atural wonders.
